Drilling at the Tally Pond-Duck Pond project in central Newfoundland continues to intersect encouraging base and precious metals values, Noranda Exploration reports.
The property, located about 142 km southwest of Gander, is a joint venture between Noranda (60%), the operator, and the Selco division of BP Canada (40%).
Ten additional vertical drill holes were completed as of mid-September. These holes have outlined the zone over a minimum strike length of 300 m and a width of 150 m; the zone remains open in all directions. Current drilling indicates the deposit is located between 300 m and 450 m below surface, has an average thickness of about 20 m, dips easterly, strikes in a north-south direction and plunges –35 degrees in a southerly direction.
Among the recent drilling results were the following: hole DP-87-111, over 12 m, 4.21% copper, 1.55% lead, 8.26% zinc, 91 g silver and 1.42 g gold per tonne;
Hole DP-87-112, over 21.85 m, 4.99% copper, 2.18% lead, 7.77% zinc, 142.9 g silver and 2.05 g gold;
Hole DP-87-115, over 20.9 m, 2.94% copper, 1.73% lead, 5.84% zinc, 9.58 g silver and 1.33 g gold; Hole DP-87-116, over 22.85 m, 4.6% copper, 1.26% lead, 8.36% zinc, 87.9 g silver and 1.39 g gold.
Six drills are currently operating at the discovery; four more drills will be moved onto the site by mid- October, Noranda reports.
