Eight holes drilled since the middle of July at the Tally Pond- Duck Pond polymetallic project in central Newfoundland have intersected significant values, joint venture partners Noranda Inc. (TSE) and BP Canada (TSE) report.
Assay values from the eight holes are included in the results for 57 holes drilled since the middle of last month. Four other holes were abandoned because of field conditions and the remaining holes served to delineate the boundaries of the zone.
Hole 175, the companies say, may indicate the presence of another zone or a faulted equivalent of the main mineralized zone. Drilling in the area continues with nine machines, four of which are active in the development block. Among the better results (assay averages) from the eight holes mentioned above:
Core
length Cu Pb Zn Ag Au Hole (m) (%) (%) (%) (g/mt) (g/mt) 154 46.3 3.5 0.7 5.6 57.7 0.9 168 41.6 1.9 0.4 2.5 33.9 0.4 175 22.4 1.6 0.7 9.8 39.9 0.4
Geological reserves to date stand at about four million tonnes grading 3.5% coppper, 1.1% lead, 6.6% zinc, 67.4 g silver and 1 g gold.
Noranda has a 60% interest and BP a 40% interest in the project, which is located 142 km southwest of Gander and 33 km southeast of Buchans.
