The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame has issued its yearly call for nominations, which will lead to the induction of a new group of individuals early in 1995.
These future inductees will be honored at a dinner on Jan. 9. Their names will be added to a list of 54 achievers who have been selected since the Hall’s inception in 1989.
Nominations of men and women who have made an outstanding contribution to Canadian mining can be made by individuals, firms and organizations. However, nominations must be channelled through organizations that are Hall sponsors and/or associates.
Sponsors include the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the Mining Association of Canada and The Northern Miner. Associates include provincial and territorial mining associations.
Nominations must include the specific information described in the Hall’s “guidelines for nominations.” These guidelines and the criteria for selection are available from sponsors and associates.
The deadline for submitting nominations by sponsors and associates is July 31; it is recommended that suggestions be forwarded to these sponsors and associates before July 15.
