Nokomis deposit expands to south

Duluth Metals (DM-T) has intersected more copper, nickel and platinum-group-element mineralization on its Nokomis deposit, on the Maturi Extension project in northeastern Minnesota.

Four holes on the southwestern edge of the deposit and two in the central part of the property — effectively the eastern part of the resource drilled so far — intersected wide intervals of disseminated sulphides. In the central area, hole MEX-47 cut 87 metres that averaged 0.63% copper, 0.19% nickel, 0.44 gram palladium, 0.2 gram platinum and 0.1 gram gold per tonne. Another hole from the same collar, MEX-51, intersected 70.5 metres grading 0.48% copper, 0.13% nickel, 0.41 gram palladium, 0.18 gram platinum and 0.09 gram gold per tonne.

The holes indicate a thicker zone than had been previously assumed in the Nokomis resource estimate (347 million tonnes indicated, at 0.62% copper, 0.2% nickel, 0.01% cobalt, 0.31 gram palladium, 0.14 gram platinum and 0.08 gram gold per tonne, plus 108 million tonnes inferred, at 0.65% copper, 0.18% nickel, 0.01% cobalt, 0.41 gram palladium, 0.19 gram platinum and 0.1 gram gold per tonne; T.N.M., August 20/07).

In the southwestern part of the deposit, Duluth drilled one infill hole and three on extensions to the south. The infill hole, MEX-46, intersected 33.5 metres grading 0.51% copper, 0.19% nickel, 0.36 gram palladium, 0.17 gram platinum and 0.09 gram gold per tonne. The three extension holes, which tested as far as 400 metres south of the resource envelope, all cut mineralization at grades comparable to the resource grades, over lengths of 19 to 102 metres.

Hole MEX-48, the hole drilled furthest south in the program so far, also cut the thickest intersection, 102 metres, probably representing about a 90-metre true width. The interval averaged 0.46% copper, 0.13% nickel, 0.27 gram palladium, 0.11 gram platinum and 0.07 gram gold per tonne.
