News Roundup — Yamana drills property

Reverse-circulation drilling is under way on Yamana Resources’ (TSE) Microonda property in Argentina’s Santa Cruz province.

Seventy-five drill targets have been established in a 4-sq.-km area, and a drill road is being constructed.

The initial target is the Golpe prospect, where previous surface panel samples assayed up to 18 grams gold per tonne. Assay results will be released 2-3 weeks after each target is drilled.

Elsewhere in South America, the company is seeking the right to explore three land packages in Paraguay. All three are thought to have excellent potential for gold mineralization, and one is seen as prospective for Mississippi Valley-type base metal mineralization.
