NEWS ROUNDUP — Unit of Mazarin to close

One of three asbestos mines operated by LAB Chrysotile in eastern Quebec will be closed.

The BC-Beaver unit has, of late, been unable to produce asbestos at competitive prices, which led to a decision to cease operations, beginning in late May.

The closure is not, however, expected to affect the earnings of affiliated Mazarin Mining (ME), which will carry out summer drilling at the property in order to expand reserves.
