Toronto-listed Tri Origin Exploration has begun a 2,000-metre program at its gold project 90 km north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
Previous trenching and diamond drilling defined a 4-km-long, gold-bearing alteration zone along a contact between volcanic and sedimentary rock. “This alteration zone is coincident with a number of airborne electromagnetic and ground-induced polarization geophysical anomalies,” Tri Origin reports. Drilling will focus on this zone. The program will include 10 widely spaced drill holes, each at least 200 metres deep. Follow-up downhole geophysics is also planned.
Tri Origin holds about 120 claims covering the belt, a felsic volcanic centre. Results are expected in late August or early September.
MSV schedules exploration work
A $5.2-million underground exploration and development program for the Copper Rand and Portage mines near Chibougamau, Que., is planned by MSV Resources (ME).
At Copper Rand, the ramp will be deepened and exploration drifts dug toward the neighboring Cedar Bay property, for which drilling is scheduled. At Portage, exploration drifts will be driven and lower levels drilled to determine the continuity of previously mined zones.
The federal and Quebec governments are contributing $1.3 million each toward the work.
MSV bought the operations earlier this year.
