Drilling is under way on the Douay gold property in the Casa Berardi area of northwestern Quebec, Northern Abitibi Mining (ASE) reports.
Quebec Crown exploration company Soquem is operating the program to follow up on a high-grade intersection (16.2 ft. averaging 0.31 oz. gold per ton) discovered in March. Five or six holes, representing about 5,000 ft. in total, are planned.
Northern Abitibi is carried as to a 40% interest in the property for the first $550,000 in exploration funded by project partners Soquem and Societe d’Exploration Miniere Vior (ME).
Also, Northern Abitibi has entered into option agreements with Soquem on the Mile 109 and Ruisseaux properties, which are contiguous to the Douay property. Soquem may earn a 50% interest in each of Mile 109 and Ruisseaux by spending $300,000 on exploration.
