Mining safety inspectors recently concluded their investigation of an accident which caused the death of a miner at Echo Bay Mines’ (TSE) Lupin gold mine in the Northwest Territories.
Chris Pederson, 50, died April 15 when the mining equipment he was using tipped over and fell on him.
“As there were no witnesses, we can only speculate as to the direct cause of the accident,” said chief mining inspector Dave Turner, adding that the miner had been trained in the equipment’s operation, and had used the drill for four years without any reported problems.
