NEWS ROUNDUP — InterStar ships first manganese ore

InterStar Mining (CDN) has shipped its first 6,350-tonne batch of manganese ore from a mine in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

The mine contains 15 million tonnes of proven and developed, high-grade ore, of which 140,000 tonnes can be extracted annually.

The average grade is 54% manganese. The metal is used to produce steel, as well as ferromanganese and silicomanganese alloys.
