NEWS ROUNDUP — Geological report on Stewart camp

The British Columbia Geological Survey has released a report on the historic Stewart gold-silver camp in the northwest.

The 105-page report describes the geology and mineral occurrences in a 750-sq.-km area. Author Dani Alldrick documents diagnostic features of five deposit types and outlines the most prospective areas for each type. Copies are $40 each, and are available from Crown Publications in Victoria, B.C. Phone (604) 386-4636 or fax (604) 386-0221.

Of the exploration programs in Stewart this summer, the largest is on the Red Mountain gold property where Lac Minerals (TSE) is spending $6.5 million on surface and underground work.

Meanwhile, mining is occurring at the Silver Butte deposit, a joint venture involving Westmin Resources (TSE) and Tenajon Resources (VSE). Ore is being processed at Westmin’s Premier gold mine.
