Chip samples from a 30 sq.-mile property in the James Bay Lowlands of Quebec have led to the discovery of a gold-bearing zone.
The discovery was made as Montreal-listed partners Garde Societe d’Exploration Miniere and Exploration Diabior were till-sampling on a property near Radisson in an effort to find diamond indicator minerals. However, instead of garnets and chrome diopsides, they discovered gold grains. Several outcrops were discovered and chip-sampled.
Four samples yielded assays of 0.09-0.57 oz. gold per ton. The gold is associated with sulphide-bearing quartz veins within an east-west-trending shear zone.
“We are convinced there are other zones below the thin till cover,” said Diabor President Andre Gaumond.
Diabor and Garde plan to spend $300,000 to determine drill targets. Drilling will be carried out this winter.
