A polymetallic massive sulphide discovery by Cominco (TSE) has sparked increased interest in the Finlayson Lake area of southeastern Yukon.
Atna Resources (TSE) recently enlarged its two claim blocks in this region to 138 claims.
The junior’s 36-claim Pak property is about 10 km south of Cominco’s discovery, while the 102-claim Foot property is east of it. Atna’s initial claims in the region were staked in 1993, to cover mineral prospects located during a regional exploration program for polymetallic massive sulphides. The company plans an aggressive exploration program this fall. Wisconsin venture formed
Juniors Sharpe Energy and Resources (VSE) and Freewest Resources (TSE) have formed a joint venture to explore a base metal project in north-central Wisconsin.
The project consists of two promising copper-gold-silver massive sulphide deposits with exploration potential, as well as 15,000 acres of options and permits. Sharpe is earning a 60% interest in the project from Cyprus Amax Minerals (NYSE).
Freewest can earn half of Sharpe’s interest by assuming a portion of Sharpe’s responsibilities to Cyprus Amax.
In other news, Sharpe has decided not to acquire Chemrich, a petroleum services company, opting instead to proceed with the development of its mineral properties.
