News in Brief (July 27, 1987)

Meacon Bay Resources reports it has completed a private placement of 1,000,000 of its units at 10 cents per unit. Each unit consists of one common share and one share purchase warrant, each of the latter entitling the holder to purchase one additional common share at 12.5 cents a share until June 30, 1989.

Noranda Inc. has purchased all of the outstanding common shares of Isle Dieu Mattagami Mines, the company reports. Noranda previously had an 80.85% interest in Isle Dieu; it offered $9 per share to claim the outstanding issues. Production from the rich Isle Dieu zinc deposit near Matagami, Que., is scheduled to begin by July, 1988.

Burnt Island Gold Ltd. has changed its name to New Era Developments Ltd. (nra:vse) on a share-for-share basis.

Technigen Platinum Corp. has changed its name to Technigen Corp. on a share-for-share basis. There is no change in symbol.
