Toronto-listed Newhawk Gold Mines has returned high-grade gold values from several targets on its Sulphurets property, north of Stewart, B.C.
So far, 25 holes totaling 10,600 ft. have been drilled on the Bruceside project, 60% of which is owned by Newhawk and 40% by Granduc Mines (TSE). The program tested the SG, Galena Hill, Shore, Gossan Hill and Maddox zones. Drilling to test Gossan Hill intersected 6.5 ft. grading 1.34 oz. gold and 1.52 oz. silver per ton, as well as 6.5 ft. of 3.49 oz. gold and 2.07 oz. silver, and 4.9 ft. of 1.82 oz. gold and 0.79 oz. silver.
Other results from this portion of the program are less spectacular, however, and include 4.5 ft. of 0.05 oz. gold, 3.9 ft. of 0.14 oz. gold and 2.2 ft. of 0.10 oz. gold.
Eleven holes were drilled to test Galena Hill, focusing on the G-8 structure. Most mineralized intersections were fewer than 3.2 ft. wide, however. Those exceeding that width include 6.8 ft. grading 0.31 oz. gold per ton, 6.5 ft. of 0.31 oz. gold and 6.5 ft. of 0.25 oz. gold.
Results are awaited from a hole which intersected visible gold on the Maddox zone. A previous hole on this target returned a 13.2-ft. section grading 0.30 oz. gold and 0.56 oz. silver.
Newhawk also drilled targets on its 100%-owned Snowfield project, next to Bruceside. One hole intersected a vein system on the Josephine target, returning 21.6 ft. of 0.25 oz. gold and 21.11 oz. silver, and 14.4 ft. of 0.33 oz. gold and 26.62 oz. silver. The vein system is still open along strike and downdip.
The best result from drilling on the Snowfield zone was 268.3 ft. grading 0.043 oz. gold. Newhawk’s field program has been completed for the year.
