The R-8 zone, uncovered in July, lies close to the West zone and adjacent to the UTC zone.
Among the better results of the follow-up drill holes were 6.8 ft of 0.4 oz gold per ton and 12.7 oz silver from U-89-282 (section 199+70 N), 32.7 ft of 1.04 oz gold and 30.8 oz silver from U-89-349 (section 200+00 N), and 84.6 ft of 7.5 oz gold (uncut), or 3.5 oz gold (cut), and 41.5 oz silver from U-89-292 (section 200+10 N).
The company says uncut values of up to 73.5 oz gold across 2.8 ft occurred within the intercept in U-89-292. Also, the gold grade has been cut to 10 oz per ton. The true width of the R-8 zone is estimated to vary between 5 ft and 23 ft. Newhawk says the R-8 zone is open in all directions and it may be related to the UTC zone. The R-8 structure, the company reports, has re turned consistently high grade values from an area close to existing workings and could provide additional tonnage of easily mineable high grade ore.
Drilling of the project’s West zone is about 50% complete, the company says.
Newhawk has a 60% interest in the property, and Granduc Mines (TSE) a 40% interest.
