Newfields pleased with Narrows results

Several encouraging drill intersections have been drilled by Newfields Minerals on the company’s Teck-Hughes property near Kirkland Lake, Ont. Drilling on the Narrows Break zone returned a 6.8-ft section grading 0.21 oz gold and 7.4 ft grading 0.14 oz gold per ton in hole 33.

Hole 35 intersected 8.2 ft assaying 0.39 oz and 4.4 ft grading 0.11 oz. Hole 39 cut 7 ft grading 0.3 oz.

At the nearby Lake Shore No 5 shaft, Newfields has almost completed the installation of ventilation piping. The shaft, which is being leased from Lac Minerals for a monthly fee, should be commissioned shortly. By early February, Newfields plans to begin driving a westerly 1,200-ft-long drift from the Lake Shore shaft. This will provide access to the Narrows Break zone on the Teck-Hughes property. Newfields can earn a 50% interest in the property, which is held under option from Teck Corp.
