A new reserve calculation has been announced for sector 16, the open pit deposit, of the property near Mont-Laurier, Que.: 4.4 million tonnes grading 7.4% graphitic carbon, including a proven 1.2 million tonnes grading 7.6%. Total reserves (all classes) for the sector a year ago stood at 2.9 million tonnes at 6.73%.
Material currently mined at the project is being treated at a mill in the same area leased from Asbury Graphite Mills. The new mill will allow Stratmin to triple the current production rate to about 1,400 tonnes per day (the company will continue to operate the Asbury mill).
The name of Stratmin’s new partner in the graphite project has yet to be announced. The partner is purchasing a 51% interest in the project and will become the operator.
