New Pamour boss named

The Pamour group of companies has a new chief executive officer.

An Australian, Adrian Fleming, will move over from his position as executive director exploration of parent firm Giant Resources to assume the Pamour presidency.

Fleming replaces Clifford Frame, who has been appointed to Giant Resources’ board of directors.

Fleming becomes president of Pamour Inc. (TSE) and ERG Resources (TSE), vice-chairman of Giant Yellowknife Mines (TSE) and chairman of Pamorex Minerals (TSE).

A geologist, Fleming spent two years in Canada when he worked for a forerunner company to gold- producer Placer Dome. He has already taken up residence in Toronto, and is expecting his family to arrive in November.

As vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Giant Yellowknife, Fleming leads a company which produced almost 215,000 oz gold in 1987 from mines at Timmins, Ont., and in the Northwest Territories. He will also oversee a couple of tailings treatment projects, one belonging to Giant Yellowknife in the N.W.T. and the other being brought along by ERG at Timmins. Pamour, a holding company with no direct gold production of its own, has controlling interests in Giant Yellowknife (41.8%) and ERG (61.6%).

Frame is a former president of Denison Mines who became top man at Pamour in 1987. He is currently president of Curragh Resources, which operates a lead-zinc mine at Faro, Yukon. Controlling shareholder of Curragh, with a 56% interest, is Westray Mining, a company controlled by Frame. Giant Resources has a 46% interest in Curragh.

While Frame has relinquished his executive positions with the Pamour companies, he remains a director of Pamour, Giant Yellowknife, ERG and Pamorex.

Westray Mining is involved in a second major mining development with the Pamour group, a coal project in Pictou Cty., N.S. Owner of the $122-million project is Westray Coal, which is owned by Westray Mining (project manager) and Giant Yellowknife.

In other news, Robert Needham, chairman of Pamour and executive chairman of Giant Resources, has been named chairman of Giant Yellowknife and ERG.

Giant Resources currently has a 68% interest in Pamour as well as a direct 16.7% interest in Giant Yellowknife.
