New OSC chairman Robert Wright, has mining background

Wright practises at present with the Toronto law firm Lang Michener Lash Johnson.

“I’ve been associated with Teck for virtually all of my legal career,” Wright told The Northern Miner. “Our firm has handled all of Teck’s mine financing and virtually all of its securities issues,” he said, adding that he brings an understanding of the mining industry to his new job.

Wright graduated from the University of Toronto in 1955 with a degree in Philosophy and History and was the gold medal graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School in 1961. In addition to his work with Teck, he has practised corporate and commercial law and has been a director of a number of corporations and charities.
