New mineral branch director

John Wood has been appointed director of the new northwestern mineral development branch in Kenora of the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.

Mr Wood is the first mining director to be appointed in the northwestern part of the province, a government announcement says. A northeast mineral development branch has been established in Timmins, with Sandy McIntosh as director.

The new Kenora office will act as the co-ordinating body for all provincial mines and minerals activities in the northwest.

Before his present appointment, Mr Wood was chief geologist, Precambrian section, Ontario Geological Survey.
