Several gold zones were recently discovered by Arauco Resources (VSE) on its wholly owned properties in south Chile.
The junior says all 149 samples, taken over two-metre intervals from zones A and B, returned an average grade of 5.57 grams gold per tonne. Within the zone A area, 11 trenches totalling 347 metres have been completed. Results from five trenches totalling 229 metres are in hand, with 92 samples averaging 4.43 grams gold. On zone B (100 metres east of zone A), 16 trenches totalling 233 metres are completed. Results of 57 samples covering 112 metres in nine trenches were received, and the samples average 7.4 grams gold. “This is a brand new discovery and the most fantastic thing I’ve ever seen in my career,” says Arauco President Donald McLeod.
Because the values occur over an extensive area, the project is viewed as having potential to host a bulk tonnage deposit amenable to open-pit mining.
