New discovery at Aldebaran

Trenching on the Aldebaran property in Chile has outlined a new zone of gold mineralization for Arizona Star Resource (VSE) and Bema Gold (TSE).

The former has a 51% interest in the property while the latter holds the right to purchase a 49% interest for US$4 million in cash or shares. The new zone, known as Cerro Roman, measures 1,300 by 1,800 ft. and is open to expansion in three directions. Trenching values include 0.032 oz. gold per ton over 108 ft.; 0.025 oz. over 98 ft.; 0.03 oz. over 404 ft.; 0.032 oz. over 276 ft.; and 0.028 oz. over 276 ft.

The joint venture believes the zone has the potential to host a porphyry-style gold deposit similar to the property’s Cerro Casale deposit. Cerro Casale was last estimated to contain 81.1 million tons grading 0.02 oz. at a stripping ratio of 1-to-1.

Initial drilling will begin in late February.
