The comnies involved in the Dome Mountain gold-silver project east of Smithers, B.C., say they have obtained “very encouraging” gold and silver values from underground drilling over a 130-ft length of the Boulder Creek zone.
Participants in the project are Teeshin Resources (VSE), Canadian- United Minerals (VSE) and Total Erickson Resources (TSE). A legal dispute concerning ownership of the project has yet to be resolved among the participants, which could affect project financing and consequently the early 1989 target date for the start of production. Canadian-United President Michael Callahan said, however, that with all necessary government approvals for the project close at hand, “the pressure is on all parties to resolve the situation and move ahead.”
Teeshin was the operator of the recent underground drill program designed to provide greater definition to the Boulder Creek zone and to confirm previous results from surface drilling. Work was carried out on the 1,3 70 level drift completed last summer.
Results include 4.59 ft grading 1.334 oz gold and 5.56 oz silver per ton, 9.55 ft grading 1.289 oz gold and 6.09 oz silver, 4.49 ft grading 1.370 oz gold and 8.53 oz silver, 7.61 ft grading 0.986 oz gold and 5.14 oz silver, and 4.46 ft grading 0.671 oz gold and 7.36 oz silver.
These and other recent assays from the underground program were incorporated into the final feasibility study for the project, now under review by the participants. Reported mineable ore reserves currently stand at 319,280 tons of 0.37 oz gold and 2.0 oz silver.
