Encouraged by drill results released in September 1995, Barrick Gold (ABX-T) and High Desert Mineral Resources (HDR-V) will undertake five more holes at their jointly held property 30 km north of Carlin, Nev.
A single hole drilled last year encountered mineralization over a 58-metre interval that penetrated carbonate rocks in the Popovich formation and in the upper part of the Roberts Mountain formation, which is the principal host rock for most mineralization on the Carlin trend. The mineralization starts around 500 metres below surface.
High Desert, which is operating the project, is encouraged by recent activity on the adjacent Fence property, held by Newmont Gold (NGC-N). High Desert plans to drill two holes from locations along strike from last summer’s discovery, and then locate its next three holes based on the results.
