Vancouver-based Nu-Apex Energy (NPX-V) will soon begin an exploration program on three properties it holds in south-Central and northeastern Nevada.
The program, which is expected to start within six weeks, will include geophysical and shallow air-Track drilling on the Rawhide Extension, HB and Ellendale properties. Of those properties, the Rawhide is considered the most prospective for gold mineralization.
The Rawhide property lies 137 km southeast of Reno, and is contiguous with the property hosting the Denton Rawhide gold mine, which is operated and 51%-owned by Kennecott. Kinross Gold (K-T) holds the remaining 49% of that operation.
According to Nu-Apex, drilling by former owner Newmont Gold in the northwest portion of the property returned 45.72 metres averaging 1.3 grams gold per tonne. The area drilled lies immediately southeast of the Denton Rawhide open pit, with results indicating widespread gold-bearing mineralization in Tertiary-Aged volcanic rocks. Nu-Apex plans to conduct its own follow-up geophysical and drilling programs.
Initial exploration at the Ellendale property calls for an airborne geophysical survey. That property, which lies near the town of Tonopah, is characterized by a porphyritic intrusive.
At the HB property, the company is nearing the completion of permitting, which will allow drilling to begin. The property is situated in northeastern Nevada.
The company is also awaiting results from a shallow-Track drill program it recently completed on the Hanna property, 35 km east of Tonopah. Furthermore, Nu-Apex has decided against hanging on to several claims it staked over the last few months in the Searchlight area, south of Las Vegas. The decision was based on the recent news of the Delgratia Mining (DELGF-Q) salting scandal.
