As soon as permits are in hand, Oro Nevada Resources (ONV-A) plans to commence drilling at its DeWitt gold project in the Battle Mountain trend of central Nevada.
The company expects the Nevada Bureau of Land Management to issue the necessary drill permits by late June or early July.
Oro Nevada has budgeted US$125,000 for 5,000 ft. of drilling designed to test three main targets at the 1,600-acre property. The first target is the DeWitt thrust, an imbricated strand of the much larger Roberts Mountain thrust that has been traced for over a mile.
Previous drilling for porphyry copper mineralization intercepted high-grade gold and silver values, including 30 ft. of 0.23 oz. gold and 5 oz. silver per ton from the northernmost hole on the structure. Another hole encountered 50 ft. of mineralization, starting at the surface, grading 0.01 oz. gold. Precious and base metal mineralization occurs with sandstones of the Harmony Formation.
The company will also evaluate the intersection of the DeWitt thrust with other northwest-trending, high-angle structures at depth.
The third area of interest consists of replacement and skarn targets near a Cretaceous-aged, copper-bearing intrusive.
