NAN drills Koillismaa

North Atlantic Natural Resources, a Swedish public company held 39% by each of South Atlantic Resources (SCQ-V) and Boliden (BOL-T), has begun exploring for platinum and palladium on the Koillismaa property, 600 km north of Helsinki, Finland.

The land package features a large layered igneous complex within a geological environment deemed favourable for large deposits of copper and nickel mineralization, with associated gold and platinum group elements.

Drill targets are being selected based on the results of recently completed airborne and ground geophysical surveys and previous work completed by the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK).

The Musta target will be tested first, by scout drilling. It covers an airborne geophysical anomaly near previously outlined platinum-palladium-copper-nickel mineralization. Several other targets will be tested in the coming months, including the Kuusijarvi area, where sampling of outcrops yielded up to 1.2 grams palladium and 0.6 gram platinum per tonne, plus 0.4 gram gold, 0.85% copper and 0.18% nickel.

NAN secured rights to explore the Koillismaa project jointly with the GTK by submitting a winning bid to Finland’s Ministry of Mines and Industry.
