Mustang pulls more PGEs from East Bull Lake

Junior Mustang Minerals (MMIN-C) has sunk another eight holes at its East Bull Lake platinum group metals property, 80 km west of Sudbury, Ont.

This brings to 16 the number of holes drilled to date, with the latest collared at the Moon Lake and newly discovered Bullfrog targets.

Holes 9-11, collared at Moon Lake, returned the following results:

– hole 9 — 1 metre grading 1.5 grams combined platinum, palladium and gold per tonne in a 17-metre interval that averaged 0.57 gram;

– hole 10 — 2 metres grading 1.35 combined metals in an 11-metre interval that averaged 0.5;

– hole 11 — 1.5 metres grading 3.65 grams.

The Moon Lake target has now been tested by 11 holes. Mineralization extends for 1 km along strike.

Situated about 2 km along strike to the west, the Bullfrog target was tested by the remaining five holes. Results include the following:

– hole 12 — 1 metre of 2.2 grams in a 21-metre section that averaged 0.47 gram;

– hole 13 — 1.5 metres of 1 gram in a 10.3-metre section that averaged 0.63 gram, plus 0.37 metre of massive sulphides running 0.13% copper, 0.8 nickel, 0.06% cobalt and 0.28 gram of the combined precious metals;

– hole 15 — 0.7 metre of 3.13 grams in a 15-metre section that averaged 1 gram.

Hole 14, collared 150 metres to the south, over an induced-polarization anomaly, cut finely disseminated sulphides, but the grades were deemed insignificant. The anomaly remains open in all directions.

Results from hole 16 are pending. (Each hole is being analyzed for rhodium, copper and nickel.)

Three types of mineralization are recognized in the East Bull Lake intrusion: contact sulphides in basal cumulates; disseminated sulphides, higher in the stratigraphy; and structurally controlled sulphides (essentially remobilized contact mineralization where cut by deformation zones). Moon Lake and Bullfrog are examples of the first type.

A follow-up program has begun and will total 1,000 metres. Holes will be collared at the Bullfrog target.

At East Bull Lake this year, Mustang plans to spend $700,000 on drilling and additional exploration.
