The Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto will host the Italian Renaissance-inspired gold and jewelry designs of the late Mario Buccellati and his son Gianmaria, beginning July 20.
The exhibit, “Art of the Goldsmith: Masterpieces from Buccellati,” will showcase 50 pieces from the family’s private collection, including jewelry and ornaments crafted with gold, silver, jade, malachite, quartz, rubies, diamonds, sapphires and emeralds.
The exhibition of the museum’s own rough gold and silver and uncut gem specimens, in addition to photographs documenting the craftsmen’s tools and techniques, will illustrate how such pieces are created.
For more information, telephone the museum at (416) 586-8000.
