Mulroney joins Amer. Barrick board

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney has joined the board of directors of gold producer American Barrick Resources (TSE) and its major shareholder Horsham (TSE).

The Barrick directorship is Mulroney’s first Canadian board appointment since resigning in June after almost nine years as prime minister. He recently joined the Montreal law firm Ogilvy Renault as a senior partner. Last month, Mulroney, who before seeking public office served as president of Iron Ore Co. of Canada, became a director of U.S. food processor Archer-Daniels-Midland Co.

Barrick recently announced a new phase of growth which will see it expand beyond its North American mining base to South America and Asia.
