More kimberlites at Churchill

Drilling by Shear Minerals (SRM-V) and Northern Empire Minerals (NEM-V), designed to test at least 15 geophysical targets, has intersected kimberlite on five of six targets tested so far.

The fourth and fifth kimberlite discoveries were made on the Churchill project, north of Rankin Inlet in Nunavut, while drill-testing circular magnetic features measuring 250 by 200 metres and 150 by 150 metres. The only miss came when a hole was shut down prematurely after intersecting 14 metres of granite, as a result of poor drilling conditions. The anomaly remains unexplained.

Shear is the operator and holds a 51% interest in the Churchill project; the Northair Group’s Northern Empire is earning a 35% interest by spending $750,000 on exploration; and the remaining 14% is owned by BHP Billiton (BHP-N).
