Several more high grade drill intersections have been reported from Newhawk Gold Mines’ (VSE) Sulphurets property north of Stewart, B.C. Sectional drilling was recently completed on eight new sections in the West zone as part of a 16,500-ft drill program. “These intersections are in addition to those used for the West zone reserve calculations completed by American Mine Services of Colorado announced April 13,” says President Donald A. McLeod.
The results included U88-136 which intersected 33.6 ft of 1.0 oz gold and 104.6 oz silver. U88-126 returned 87.3 ft of 0.33 oz gold and 36.5 oz silver while U88-135 yielded 53.2 ft of 0.29 oz gold and 16.2 oz silver. Of the 18 holes reported, the lowest gold value occured in U88- 137 which returned 35.7 ft grading 0.2 oz gold and 10.9 oz silver. Excluding the extremely high value of 1,928 oz gold over 0.4 ft in U88-98, the next best intercept was 1.3 oz gold with 1.8 oz silver over 4.6 ft in U88-131.
The latest results will probably not extend the strike length of the zone but it will upgrade confidence in existing reserves and could expand them somewhat. Some of the widths encountered at depth were wider than was indicated from surface, suggesting a possible reserve increase. The intercepts are below 1,000 ft and the depth of the gold deposit is fairly unusual by British Columbia standards, Newhawk states.
