Total drilling exploration at the New World copper-gold-silver property in Montana of Crown Butte Resources (TSE) and Noranda Exploration has reached more than 67,000 ft. in 168 holes, the companies report. Drilling on the property continues in several areas with three core drills and two reverse circulation drills working 24 hours per day. Project manager Noranda Exploration is a unit of Noranda (TSE).
In the Miller Creek area, the deposit remains open to the north and east of the north end of the main deposit where the companies report encountering an unusually thick, laterally continuous zone of mineralization.
On the southeast end of the main Miller Creek deposit, stepout hole 90-600 intercepted 25 ft. of 0.34 oz. gold per ton.
Among the latest results reported were 70 ft. of 0.56 oz. gold (0.36 oz. cut), 1.33 oz. silver and 1.07% copper in 90-498; 5.8 ft. of 0.53 oz. gold (0.46 oz. cut), 1.9 oz. silver and 0.56% copper in 90-548C; 55 ft. of 0.59 oz. gold (0.56 oz. cut), 1.69 oz. silver and 2.42% copper in 90-563; and 9.3 ft. of 3.16 oz. gold (0.28 oz. cut), 4.0 oz. silver and 3% copper in 90-591C.
A 50-ft. grid definition core drilling program is being applied within the main Miller Creek zone.
Offset drilling of the discovery hole in the Homestake breccia target on Henderson Mt. encountered a zone of significant mineralization, the companies say. One hole cut 20 ft. of 0.11 oz. gold. Another hole reported 80 ft. of 0.29 oz. and 20 ft. of 0.31 oz. in two intercepts.
First-round drilling (seven holes) has been completed in the T-zone (1,200 ft. south of the Miller Creek deposit). The drilling defined a previously known drill target. A new drill proposal submitted for permitting will test to the north and east of the area drilled.
