True North Gems (TGX-V) has discovered a new emerald zone on its Regal Ridge property in the Finlayson Lake district of the Yukon.
The Shadow zone, on Howdy Ridge, 1 km southwest of the known area of mineralization, consists of several large emerald-bearing quartz and tourmaline veins in float. Some of the samples contain up to 10% emerald.
The emeralds range from 2 mm to 3.5 cm in length and are described as coarse-gem to near-gem quality, with excellent colour.
The float is near quartz vein outcrop in the Fyre Lake formation, which hosts the Regal Ridge emeralds.
Mapping and prospecting of soil geochem anomalies (identified by soil sampling over the past two years) led to the discovery. The mapping indicates that the formation that hosts the emeralds is more widespread than initially thought.
The vein will be tested by trenching.
West and southwest of the Regal Ridge deposits, and more than 500 metres southeast of the Shadow zone, quartz veins in float have been found to contain colourless beryl crystals up to 2 cm long.
Trenching is under way at the Mattscar and Southwest zones, and stockpiled and newly bulk-sampled mineralized material is being processed on site.
