More drilling at Scossa

Denver — In light of a successful 2000, Romios Gold (YRW-V) plans to resume drilling at the Scossa property, 6 miles southeast of the Rosebud mine in northern Nevada.

The new campaign, budgeted at US$50,000, will follow up bonanza-grade mineralization intercepted in a 3,600-ft program last year.

Hole 2 cut an 11-ft. section in the Scossa vein at a depth of 145 ft. The first 5 ft. of the vein ran 0.038 oz. gold per ton, though the last 6 ft. returned 10.6 oz. A lower intersection, at a depth of 206 ft., returned 1 oz. per ton.

Drilling in Hole 3 encountered comparable lower-grade vein material, adjacent to bonanza grades. The first 5 ft. ran 0.018 oz. per ton, followed by 6.5 ft. of 8.6 oz. Hole 5 hit 4.8 ft. of 2 oz. per ton, and Hole 6 cut 3.5 ft. grading 2.1 oz.

The planned program, consisting of as many as four holes, will test mineralization from the lowest existing workings at 400 ft. down to a depth of 1,000 ft.

The gold is in quartz-adularia veins in the Triassic Auld Lang Syne formation, consisting of metamorphosed siltstones and sandstones cut by intermediate to basic dykes.
