Associated companies Exploration Orex and Coleraine Mining Resources also traded well. Orex, closing up 23 cents to $2.42, is preparing for production at its Goldboro gold property in Nova Scotia. Coleraine, which climbed 8 cents to 72 cents , is active in the Eastern Twps. area of Quebec, where among its exploration plays is a chromite-platinum-nickel prospect.

Trading more than a half-million shares and climbing 27 cents to 83 cents was Virginia Gold Mines. The exploration company is active in Virginia in the United States, where Cambior Inc. may earn an interest in one of the junior’s gold prospects. Back home, Cambior, which slipped 38 cents to $13.38 on 21,000 shares, is set this month to open officially its Pascalis gold mine near Val d’Or.

Investors seem to have paused for some reflection on the Louvicourt Twp. copper-zinc discovery of Aur Resources and Societe Miniere Louvem. Each side has legal action pending against the other. Trading 104,100 shares, Aur gained 63 cents to $9, while Louvem closed unchanged at $5.50 on a volume of 105,100. Louvem’s controlling shareholder, St. Genevieve Resources, traded 77,000 shares, closing down 7 cents to $2.

Radisson Mining Resources reports the signing of a $6-million loan and gold-loan agreement with Deak International Trading (U.S.). Radisson, which closed unchanged at 49 cents on 70,100 shares, is gearing up for production at its Duquesne gold mine north of Rouyn-Noranda, Que.

Newly listed on the ME is Consolidated TVX Mining, the Toronto- based gold producer which is active in South America.
