Montauban drilling intersects gold

Drilling by Mirabel Resources (RMB-M) is indicating the potential for gold mineralization in a new zone near the former gold mine on the Montauban property, 50 km northeast of Trois-Rivieres, Que.

Six shallow drill holes intersected gold and silver mineralization over core lengths of between 1 and 26 metres. Gold grades were mainly between 1 and 5 grams per tonne. Silver grades ranged from a few grams to 36 grams.

The best intersection came in hole ZN01-02, where a 3-metre interval graded 10.6 grams gold and 29.1 grams silver per tonne. A 5-metre intersection in hole ZN01-01 graded 3.8 grams gold and 36 grams silver.

The old Montauban mine was operated by Muscocho Exploration between 1983 and 1990. It produced about 90,000 oz. gold and 320,000 oz. silver. Mirabel’s exploration target is a previously untested 1.5-km structure on the same property.

Mirabel holds full title to 55 claims and holds a further 28 under option from South Malartic Exploration (MSU-M).

Mirabel must spend $600,000 on exploration by the end of 2001.
