A move to save money may mean the end of Missouri’s Division of Geology and Land Survey. The budget chairman of the House of Representatives, Chris Kelly, wants to make the move because to him the division is not a legitimate function of state government.
The division, whose origins can be traced back 139 years and which oversees geological, water resource and land survey programs, has had its budget reduced in each of the past five years.
