Mishibishu air lift operation by Noranda, Central Crude

A considerable amount of activity was witnessed by The Northern Miner on the road running across the Mishibishu Lake area west of Wawa, Ont. One of the larger operations was an airlift of fuel and drill equipment by Noranda Exploration to the company’s gold property just a few miles south of the Magnacon project. Central Crude Ltd. is a partner with Noranda.

A Bell 204, (a large helicopter capable of slinging up to 10 45-gal fuel drums) was in operation moving gear. The air operation also moved a bush skidder to the camp site which will be used for carrying out drill moves. This was carried out by dismantling the skidder and ferrying pieces to the site in multiple sling loads.

The scale of the operation suggests that the gold discovery on the Central Crude ground is of considerable importance to Noranda. Gold has been discovered in a major regional-scale shear zone striking for up to five miles across the property holdings.

Initial surface sampling results suggest multiple gold- mineralized zones are associated with the shear. Channel samples across zone 3 assayed 0.195 oz gold per ton across 10.2 ft and 0.19 oz gold across 1.3 ft, Central Crude says.

The drill program will test several of these surface showings and other targets on the property. Noranda has assigned its interest in the property to affiliate Hemlo Gold Mines.
