Minorca Resources (TSE) continues to intersect copper-nickel-rich massive sulphides at its 57-claim Nicobi Lake property near Quevillon, Que.
Drilling on the property has outlined three parallel zones (the A, B, and C) containing economic grades for copper, nickel and cobalt at depths of between 98 ft. and 229 ft. below surface.
Highlights from a 5-hole program include 121 ft. of grade 0.29% copper, 0.84% nickel and 0.03% cobalt per ton from 64-185 ft. in hole (NIC-91-2). Another hole (NIC-91-6) located 36 ft. further west intersected 103.9 ft. of grade 0.35% copper, 0.73% nickel and 0.02% cobalt at similar depths in the A zone.
Core from two holes, one of which is designed to intersect the downdip extension of Hole 91-6 is currently being logged and split. Both holes contain sections of disseminated, semi-massive and massive sulphides.
According to Minorca President Joel Scodnick, the chances of finding a large deposit are enhanced by the fact that drill core contains several distinct layers.
Meanwhile, a 900-ft.-wide shear zone discovered recently in the northwestern portion of the property represents a good target area for gold mineralization, says Scodnick. The shear is within an east-west striking quartz-muscovite-sericite schist containing quartz veins with tourmaline and pyrite.
