A field program was recently completed by Minnova (TSE) on the Gataga properties adjacent to the Stronsay project in the Kechika Trough barite-lead-zinc-silver district of northeastern British Columbia.
A number of targets were identified during this year’s field program, and Minnova plans a diamond drilling program for next year. The company can earn a 60% interest in the Gataga project from Ecstall Mining (VSE) by spending $1.5 million on exploration and making cash payments totalling $140,000 by March, 1996.
The 1993 work program is budgeted at $500,000. The most significant target to be tested next year is an open-ended 800-metre-long lead-zinc-barium-cadmium anomaly on the YN claims.
Showings of galena and sphalerite as well as extensive beds of nodular and massive barite occur on the Pie claims where soil sampling outlined a large, coincident lead-zinc anomaly more than five kilometres long. About five kilometres further south on the Akie claims, a baritic horizon coincident with a lead-zinc-barium soil anomaly was traced for one kilometre.
