Mining week in Saskatchewan

Mining and mineral exploration is second only to agriculture in terms of value to Saskatchewan’s economy, provincial Mines Minister Douglas Anguish said in declaring May 29-June 4 as Mining Week.

The province hosts 31 mines, producing potash, uranium, coal, gold, sodium or potassium sulphate, salt, clay and chloride. According to Anguish, the annual worth of commodities produced exceeds $1 billion.
