MINING IN MEXICO — Tizapa prepared for production

The Tizapa polymetallic project southwest of Mexico City underwent test operations this summer in preparation for commercial production.

Owned 54% by Industrias Penoles, 39% by Dowa Mining and 10% by Sumitomo Corp., the mine is expected to be producing at a rate of about 1,000 tonnes per day towards the end of the year.

Reserves are estimated to be 4 million tonnes grading 6.99% zinc, 1.64% lead, 0.55% copper, and 288 grams silver and 1.67 grams gold per tonne.
