Canadian companies are spending a record $11.6 billion on business travel, with most predicting that they will spend at least the same or more during the next 12 months.
The American Express 1994 Survey of Canadian Business Travel, undertaken by Amex Canada, indicates a near doubling of such expenses since 1987. International markets into which Canadian businesses are expanding include the U.S., Mexico, South America and the Pacific Rim.
The $11.6 billion total breaks down into airfare, the largest component, followed by meals and entertainment, accommodation and car rentals.
