Mining Hall of Fame invites nominations

Calls are again going out for nominations for admission to the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, the successful candidates from which will be ceremoniously inducted at its fourth annual banquet billed for Toronto’s Royal York Hotel, Jan. 6, 1992.

National in scope, the nomination process will again be administered through the facilities of the Mining Association of Canada in Ottawa, one of the Hall’s four initial sponsors. Others are the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and The Northern Miner, now a member of The Southam Mining Group.

Under the Hall’s constitution, each sponsor is entitled to five nominations, while each of its 15 countrywide mining-oriented associates is entitled to one.

Last year there were 16 nominations from which eight were selected one living and seven posthumously. Closing date for nominations will be Sept. 15.
