The courses, mostly three days in length, include such subjects as fundamentals of surface mining, mine cost analysis and control, mine monitoring and control, planning and design of longwall mining systems, and mine health and safety analysis and management.

The longest of the courses, March 28-April 8, will cover fundamentals of mining and environmental control.
