A national resource forum titled Canadian Mining Industry — Emerging Challenges and Opportunities will be held Sept 11-14 at Banff, Alta.
The forum will examine future prospects for the industry and conference participants will include leaders from major mining companies, government representatives and technical experts.
The speakers and session leaders will include George Miller, executive director, Mining Association of Canada; M. Norman Anderson, chairman and chief executive officer, Cominco, and Gerald Merrithew, minister of state for forestry and mines. Many more prominent personalities will be in attendance.
The forum will seek answers on what is needed for the industry to stay competitive and viable in this period of rapid technological change and intense competition from international producers.
