Mineta drills sulphides

An 8-hole drill program has traced a sulphide horizon for 5,000 ft, partners Mineta Resources and Hyperion Resources say. Located in Casa Berardi Twp., Que., the property is south of the Golden Pond gold mine being constructed by partners Inco Gold and Golden Knight Resources.

The horizon, which was tested at 650-ft intervals, yielded several anomalous gold values ranging up to 500 parts per billion. Within the zone, a pyritic unit displays widths up to 15 ft.

Drilling has also intersected a pipe-like hydrothermal vent breccia characterized by up to 20% ankerite and 25% pyrite. Ankerite is a common alteration mineral associated with gold deposits.

Hyperion and Mineta conclude that the over-all geology on their property is analogous to that occurring at the Agnico-Eagle mine near Joutel, Que. Additional drilling is planned this year.
