Mines pour first gold

Two mines in separate parts of Canada celebrated their first gold pours recently.

Rea Gold (REO-T) announced that the Bissett gold mine in eastern Manitoba is now hoisting and milling ore. The first gold was poured on July 30 and the mill is performing at capacity. Bissett is expected to produce about 80,000 oz. gold annually.

In northwestern British Columbia, Wheaton River Minerals (WRM-T) has started heap leaching at the Golden Bear mine. Six bars were poured in the space of six days, for a total of 4,300 oz. gold. Wheaton River expects to produce 25,000 oz. this year and an average of 45,000 oz. in each of the next four.
